sweet one

ah, sweet one,
I recognize your loneliness
it is masked it with self assurance,
but I can see right through.
I listen to your heart speak
longing to be known
to be pursued
by a man after God's own heart.
That is my prayer for you as well.
I watch from the couch
aware that you are hurt,
ignored not purposely,
but carefully not pursued.
There are brothers around you
that care for your heart also
and sometimes lack of interaction
feels like not caring
but I assure you they care more than you know.
Sweet one,
you are so complete.
He longs for you to rest in Him,
to surrender
every doubt,
every notion,
every expectation
and place it in His hands.
Take the fears
take the demands
take the list
that has become a scroll
and throw it in the Fire.
The Fire consumes
burns away
fleshly desires
and transforms even the coldest stones
into gold.
Sweet one,
let go of knowledge-
it is good-but it can clamor over
quiet humility.
I watch with anticipation
as the impurities burn
shed light from within.
He is refining you, sweet one,
I smell the fragrance
of refreshing, cleansing rain,
of a rose opened up
after a storm.
Ah, sweet one,
how lovely you are
becoming.
