Sweetheart Fondue

Nathan got a significant role in a play at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre this spring, so all throughout the months of January and February he has to attend play practice every evening, so I just sit quietly after the kiddos are tucked away for the night, waiting for my husband to come home. We would usually use our evenings to catch up with each other, to sit on the couch and talk, maybe watch an episode on netflix, or have a glass of wine, but he isn't with me, and i don't want to do those things by myself.

He usually gets home around a half past ten, and i try to have the home quiet and peaceful for him. I tidy up the living room, turn off most of the lights, and the dishwasher hums from the kitchen. I am excited to hear how his practice went, who he talked to or got to know, and how the practice is coming along. Our evenings are shorter, but we still take time to connect and I think it is important in order to survive this busy time apart.

Oftentimes ill try to put together a little treat or a snack bc he is usually hungry [anytime] and i am too [these pregnant days] so its a fun thoughtful way for us to be intentional about sitting down together, even though it is such a small act.

I made this fondue because we had tons of fresh bananas and i know they taste so good with chocolate, and it seemed romantic enough:) super easy and little mess, we enjoyed it together and i have grown to cherish these late nights with my love.

you'll need:
a heaping 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 tablespoons of nutella
2 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter
1 tablespoon olive oil

2 bananas, sliced in thick coins.

In a small microwavable bowl, mix chocolate chips and olive oil and heat at 30 second intervals till melted. stir in between.

add nutella and peanut butter and mix in to chocolate.
serve with freshly cut bananas, [or apple slices or strawberries..]

enjoy.
