thank you nathan for:
starting the vehicle in the winter
before i even get out there,
and always making sure
it is filled up with gas.
thank you for fixing the blinds
when they're crooked and loose,
straightening the string
that's all tangled in between.
thank you for cleaning up
the Christmas tree
and packing away
all the season's decorations
so i can put my piano
in the living room.
thank you for turning on the heat blanket
before we get in bed
and doing push ups while i do my plank
so i don't have to be on the floor
by myself.
thank you for making sure
Liv gets her medicine twice a day,
rubbing her with lotion and bundling her
in pajamas
so she can't scratch her skin.
thank you for
taking the kids out on the frozen tundra
to build snowmen,
explore,
and climb white mountains.
you wrestle with them
at the end of the day
getting on the floor
to play legos
and participate in tea parties.
thank you for
staring at me while i get ready
in the bathroom
and playfully distract me with
hugs and kisses
while i am trying to get
things
done.
thank you for posting pictures of me
in public
and saying poetic things
about
me.
thank you for opening doors
for the last 7 years,
brushing your foot against mine
and meeting my eyes
at the dinner table
that's now crowded
with kids.
thank you for taking out the trash
and doing 98.9% of the laundry,
going down in the
creepy dungee basement
to gather specific clothes
for me that
you have already hung to dry.
thank you for dressing up
on our dates
so i can enjoy your fine and glorious body
all these seem like
little things,
undetected
but i notice
and they are actually
very big
things.
so
thank you.
