your sorrow and tears
dripped through the phone
and into our ears.
your voice, heavy and desperate
as you spilled your fear of
losing her.
married less than 3 years
and the honeymoon seems
so far away.
and her. so tired. so hurt.
your words have come up empty
and weightless,
they haven't stood
on action.
your words, so rash, so sharp,
have penetrated into the deepest,
most inner parts of her heart,
and she is trying hard
not to become stone.
and you, your beauty
vibrant and fierce.
but it wasn't enough to hold his eyes.
his hands, his heart wandered,
and you are left picking up pieces
and two pairs of brown eyes
look to you with questions
where do we go from here?
we watch with broken hearts
as these little kingdoms rise
and just as quickly began to fall
that's not how our Father intended this!
His heart is for marriage.
forever marriage.
He is for unity.
for faithfulness.
for laying your life down for another.
what of the vows?
what of the promises spoken?
where did those go?
our hearts yearn to help,
to come along side the broken,
not because we ourselves are fixed,
quite the opposite,
but because we recognize
brokenness in ourselves,
we are no greater,
but we know there is Hope
in a Redeemer,
in a Restorer
in a Reconciler,
and His name is Jesus.
our prayer is that
as these baby marriages
have reached out
a drowning hand,
we can offer a Life raft,
and only through His strength,
His wisdom, His word,
we can help navigate them
to solid ground.
Lord, help us.
help all of us.
