if you are standing in front of
32 chilswell road
with the sun to your right
encouraging you to head into
town, do it.
you will head left,
towards white house road
and take a right.
from there, you will
take white house till it
spills out onto
abingdon.
abingdon is a straight shoot
to the city centre
so you are well on your way
once you've made it here.
turn left onto abingdon
and walk, walk, walk.
you will pass the Thames,
past the Head on the River,
a charming pub that sprawls nearly into
the river,
gold painted letters frame
the entrance.
you will pass Christ Church,
where you might spot
the beautiful porter,
Karen, ushering bustling bodies
in and out.
along your left,
you will pass one of my
[many] favorite
spots, a charming
cafe with large white windows
and light brown tables.
it is called cafe loco,
the corner table
closest to the cobblestone street
the best seat in the house.
if you continue walking,
you'll find yourself
ascending a bit up a hill,
no worries,
you are almost there.
you will pass Saint Aldates,
the Post Office,
and the police station.
when you hit the city centre,
you'll know.
carfax tower will be standing proudly
his shadow casting a bit of shade from
the sun.
i love stopping every time we make it
to the center of Oxford.
heads and bodies, like waves,
spilling into the streets,
headed in all
different directions.
if you continue straight,
the street will turn into Corn Market,
if you choose to take a right,
that is High Street.
and if you veer to the left
that will be New Road.
well, i got you this far, go.
explore for yourself
and enjoy this
spectacular city.
