to be unkind,
but as a woman who is a wife
and has no business

at that
and not get caught up 
in the web
of silky sweet words
that could end up 
spinning me into a trap
sucking the flesh 
right off me
and leaving nothing
but my brittle 
bones.

for webs that may glisten and sparkle
