she keeps giving me 

pastel lavender colored things,

she has for several years now. 

i just don't have the heart to tell 

her i don't even like that 

shade of purple, 

i love deep dark eggplant purple, 

mysterious and moody, 

not too cheerful, 

but quite robust and hearty.

i just don't want to hurt her feelings 

and a gift is a gift, is it not?

so i shall pull on the 

flat floral purple leggings,

write in the lavender leather bound journal 

and cherish the soft smell of the

lit lavender candle 

because any shade of purple is better 

than no purple at all..
