the massive maroon colored truck
with my mom and dad swallowed inside,
slowly drove in front of our house,
wheels crawling to a halt.
my children,
the four of them,
noses and fingers pressed against the glass
clamoring for one glance of
grandma and grandpa
their eyes bright and happy when all the eyes
met at once.
we all waved wildly,
ari jumping up and down
in his tired diaper the that threatened to
let go at any moment
Grandma and Grandpa
so close
yet we were separated by
glass, steps,
carved metal and wheels,
the air between us
we never would have guessed that
this Corona virus
would keep us
from hugging and running to
Grandma and Grandpa
or that they would be close enough to touch
but we couldn't.
