She's got whiter teeth
than me
though the two in front
hug just a bit.
She's spunky, sassy and sweet all in one,
yet there's an edge
revealed
in her eyes.
Tufts of bright neon green
peek beneath her ears,
and her fingernails are painted orange.
Exotic brown skin
that mirrors my own,
although her body is
much more tiny than mine-the lucky lass.

Met for Indian food today.
It's nice for a change to have so much
in common and to be able to
say "me too."
We share our experience of
meager beginnings and
at one time not fitting well
in the brown skin we had.
We laugh at the past
and think it's crazy that we even have
the same purple phones.
She jokes and says
"Maybe we really are sisters!"

I like to think we are.
