Fudgy Greek Chocolate Cake topped with frozen Blueberries and Hot Fudge

I was craving just a big ol' piece of chocolate cake and i never was a baker, so how was I going to get my hands on some? Plus, I hardly had any groceries in my fridge! no eggs, butter, even oil to bake anything!

Never fear. I had a boxed cake in my pantry, but what to do about when it asked for oil?! I actually put out a BP on facebook asking if there was anything I could sub instead of the oil. Many fun responses. Diet Sprite, applesauce, mashed bananas, avocado, and greek yogurt. Weird to my ears, but i shrugged my shoulders, and proceeded to see if I had any of those things.

well I'll be. There in the back of my fridge, was a hidden greek peach yogurt that i missed. WHAAAAT? it would have to do, because I was determined to have my cake and eat it too.

All I did was mix the cake mix and complete cup of peach yogurt in a bowl, and blended it. What a weird thing to do.

I baked it according to the directions, and out it came.
it looked normal. It smelled normal. But would it taste normal?

drum roll please.

it did.  in fact it tasted wonderful. moist, rich, deep, and flavorful. (well as deep as a cake mix can give you..) I served it with a wallop of vanilla ice cream, melted some hot fudge, and found a bag of frozen blueberries that i had saved from summer picking.

Dessert was served.

So, today's lesson? you CAN mix weird unassuming ingredients with other ordinary ingredients to make something great! Don't be afraid to try new things..
