Salted Peanut butter Bars

sweet tooth has attacked again. can't. get. enough. sweets.

seriously though, looking to feed that sweet tooth and get it to shut up, then look no further. these chocolaty-peanut buttery-buttery treats will be sure to satiate the craving and at least hold you over for a while....at least until you reach for another one. and another..

Made these because we had a guest over for dinner and he offered to provide the main dish [homemade pizzas! yum] and I agreed to contribute with a delicious dessert. these turned out both pretty and sweet:)

you'll need:
1 graham cracker pie crust
1 stick of butter
1 cup of creamy peanut butter
1 tsp Spanish vanilla extract
2 cups powdered sugar

glorious topping:
1 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
Reese's peanut butter cups, chopped in small pieces, or minis
kosher sea salt

over the stove, melt graham cracker crust and butter together. use a wooden spoon to break up crust.
[this gives a tasty textured bottom.] add peanut butter and vanilla. continue to stir.

add powdered sugar till it is all well combined.

spread filling in a 9x13 glass casserole dish. [i actually put in wax paper first so i could lift it out later.]

For chocolate topping:
melt chocolate chips in microwave at 30 sec intervals, and stir in between. add peanut butter, and continue to microwave until it is all melted and creamy.

pour chocolate carefully over peanut butter bottom and either spread with spatula, or maneuver the glass dish to spread it to the 4 corners of the pan..

wait a few minutes [4-5 minutes] and then sprinkle peanut butter pieces on top and add sea salt over top.

chill for about 20 minutes and then you should be able to pull it out with wax paper and cut into squares.
