the ones who love my children
even when the oldest
is figuring out
who he is
confused as to where he fits
so sometimes the best you get
is him in a complacent state-
they love him anyways
because they know him,
the joyful and brilliant him,
and gently coax,
gently pursue the boy
out of his shell.
the ones who love me
while my husband is gone all night
playing the lead under lights
they bring me hot meals
and offer to take the two littles
on adventures
they are consistent, faithful,
a steady presence
and i am comforted.
they love well and fully
often times we do our best
to compensate them
for their time
we know it is high in value
but they don't wait for that
they serve me and my family
and i am so thankful.
they don't fall in and out
in and out
in and out of love [with us]
they remain
firm
friends
fully rooted and committed
in this friendship
and we are so
humbled
that they would
c h o o s e
us.
they are busy with their own lives
baking, and laboring,
caring for the
weak and hungry.
she wakes before the sun rises
and rests her weary feet,
her weary heart
and does it again the next day
and the next
yet.
yet, they both choose
to spread the corner of their garments,
over us,
over our family
and love us
with an unconditional
Christ love.
we understand that we have found
one of
our greatest gifts
in the hearts of
Nick&Becca.
we love you both.
all our love,
nate&jana,
benja, koko, and Liv
