only the dashboard glass
separated me from the
howling elements
white powder dancing, pulsing
every which way you looked.
my eyes brushed the top of his
darkly waved head
tucked down in haste
his sharply defined shoulders
bracing against the
next purposed step
and the next
i took in
his jet black coat,
collar at attention
mirroring my own
His neck was smartly wrapped
in a gray scarf
behind his thick rimmed glasses
our eyes locked
as he made his way
across the black tar
now smeared with wet gravel
and all shades of whites and grays
his eyes were sparkly
full of jingle
i couldn't help
but emerge a soft smile
the gentleman cracked a wide grin
disarming me immediately
all while he continued
to gain ground
as he steadily jaunted
past my window
our eyes remained intersected
our smiles mirroring the other
until he disappeared
into the thick pearl colored air,
but not without
a respectful
nod of the head
his eyes almost seemed sad
to say goodbye to mine
and my neck was no longer able to careen about
and just like that
he was
gone.
